January Book Reviews

Beautiful Boss By Christina Lauren

I picked up this book because it was short, only 118 pages and I LOVE Christina Lauren Books. Unfortunately, I was really sad and disappointed with this one as it didn’t keep my attention. It was a VERY spicy book. And I am all about spice but not on every other page.

If I had to guess, this is along the lines of 50 shades of Grey although I never read that trilogy. I pushed through this book to about half way and then gave up, I did like the characters, but I felt like it was taking to long to get to the story!
I do not have a rating for this book as I did not finish it.

My first ARC read

Influenced Love by Shellee Marie

I found this book on Netgalley and thought it looked interesting, so I decided to apply for an ARC copy. I started reading it and was laughing from the get go, however it did take a few chapters for me to really get hooked. Once I was hooked though… I didn’t want to put it down!

This story follows 2 influencers in separate areas, one a make-up youtuber Alivia, the other a workout manic Moe!

Alivia finds herself needing to get out of misunderstanding situation and seeks out a date through social media, ending up with Moe. But as one thing leads to another you quickly discover that Alivia and Moe aren’t meant to be. Full of love twists and turns this is a fun book that will keep you on your toes!

4.5/5

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Wow I don’t even know where to start with this one! I was hooked from the beginning! I LOVED this book and I’m sad its one I got from the library and not my own copy! The author told you just enough about the smaller characters to understand them and not bore you. I also loved how she bounce through the years from the parents to the kids and back. This was such a well written book, any review could not give it justice! I can not wait to pick up some of her other books!
5/5

So if I had to recommend one book from my January read it would definetly be Malibu rising! I hope you enjoyed the January Book Reviews for you here, keep reading below for my February TBR!

For February I have quite a long list of books. I have already knocked one out and have the review below! What books will you be reading in February?

February TBR

A Cuban Girls Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey

I finished this book already! And this was another one I LOVED! It was a very easy young adult read! It is a romance but it was kind of a breath of fresh air that it was such an innocent love!

The main character, Lela is sent to England to stay with her Aunt after a series of unfortunate events happen back home in Miami. She DOES NOT want to go but as you can imagine she finds happiness in England!

You know by now that I am from England so I loved all the reminders of home, like the food and snacks!  Lela is a Cuban baker so she also talks about  Cuban pastries that had me wanting to rush out and buy yummy food! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance, its innocent enough that I would be comfortable recommending it to my almost 13 year old niece but also to my mum or best friend!

The Remainder of my TBR

Talk Bookish To Me by Kate Bromley

From Scratch by Tembi Locke

Josh and Hazels Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
I returned this book to the library before I could read it… But then as I logged onto my kindle I realized I had already read it 🤣.

Silver Girl by Elin Hilderbrand

Back to you by Jess Mastorakos

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover
