March Book Reviews & April TBRs

Book Updates and TBRs

I feel like it has been a while since I’ve done a book TBR or recap… it’s only been about a month but feels longer. We have had so much going on and you can be sure to find an update on our lives soon! For now, here is a brief recap of what I have read recently and what is on my April TBR!

Silver Girl

In March I had a short TBR list and I am proud to say that I actually finished all of the books on it!
I finished listening to “Silver Girl” by Elin Hilderbrand on Audible and you can find my review I did about halfway through the book HERE.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

This was the first book I read by this author. There has been a lot of Instagram hype so I was excited to read one of her books finally. And let me tell you the hype is not wrong. I LOVED Colleen Hoovers writing style.
This book was hard to read, not because it was bad but because it had some triggers (TW- domestic abuse). I found myself yelling at the main character Lily, on multiple occasions. Having said this, I love how Colleen went about the situations and handled them, it was not your typical love story. I felt like it was realistic.

Apart from the sadness and triggers I liked the other storylines and how Lily persevered and continued with her dream. She opened her flower shop and met some amazing people in doing so, she made it her own and followed her vision even if it was different. These qualities showed how strong she really was. Upon finishing this book, I was ready to read some more of her novels. Maybe I will add some to my April TBR…

San Diego Marines Series

Before we even left Florida I was able to finish the last 3 books in the San Diego Marines Series by Jess Mastorakos. This whole series was so easy to read, if you like clean, flirty romances these are for you! I enjoy the cross-over between characters in each book and love the friendships formed between this friend group.
If the fact that I finished these last 3 books in a little over a week, while being a mom in the middle of a move doesn’t tell you how good they are, then I don’t know what will. 🤣 But Seriously this series won’t disappoint and now that I have finished it I am itching to buy the next series. The only thing holding me back is the fact that I have so many other books I need to finish first, but maybe I will put one on my April TBR?!

Be sure to check back at the end of the month for my special interview with author Jess Mastorakos!
Book 5 “Memories of You”, Shares the story of  Brooks and Cat. A couple who are trying to navigate life as Brooks struggles with PTSD.
Book 6 “Home With You”, follows Owen (a single dad) and Rachel (a teacher) as they work through difficulties intertwining and conflicting interests.
Book 7 “Adored By You”, shares the lives of 2 childhood sweethearts, Noah and Paige. They took completely different tracks after high school and as they reconnect try to defy the odds of their differing career paths.
4.5/5 for the whole series.

Secrets In Summer

It is no secret that I enjoy reading books that take place in Nantucket! One day I will make my way there on a vacation! But for now, I have to settle for reading about the beautiful island! The next book on my March TBR was “Secrets In Summer” by Nancy Thayer. I immediately fell into this book and didn’t want to put it down. It had me wanting to run to the beach and settle down while reading. All the characters in this book had funny quirks that often had me giggling. I will say some of the story did seem a bit far-fetched but I kind of liked that aspect, it is a fictional book after all!

Maybe Someday

Not on my TBR but, I also listened to “Maybe Someday” by Colleen Hoover on Audible. ( I told you I couldn’t wait to read another Colleen Hoover book)🤣 This read was perfect for our 10+ hour drive from Florida to Texas. I enjoyed the romance storyline and was routing for Sydney and Ridge to be together. The fact that Ridge was deaf added an extra dimension to everything and touched on a disability that isn’t discussed much in books. I’d highly recommend listening to this book as I felt that the narrators did a fantastic job.
4.5/5
