2022 Goals Recap

After looking back at my goals I set for 2022 I realized that I didn’t do so good! 2022 came with a lot of change, some expected and some unexpected. Having a rough pregnancy didn’t help and my focuses and priorities changed. This coming year should be a lot more stable as we won’t be moving (at least I hope not!) and we have a steady routine in place! Keep reading to see what my goals will be for 2023 AND how I can help you with setting your goals!

One goal I did stick to was to read 30 books. I ended up reading more than 30 books, you can see what books I read in 2022 here!

Another goal I am pretty certain we stuck to as a family was to eat/ cook at home 4-5 times a week. We don’t tend to eat out a lot, although when we first moved to Texas we did enjoy exploring and trying a lot of different places! Setting Goals for 2023

How To Set Goals:

-When setting goals make sure you make them realistic and attainable. For example, if you know you can’t make it to the gym every day, don’t set that as your goal. But if you know it is possible to make it is at least 2-3 times, set your goal to be 3 times a week to strive for the greater.

-WRITE THEM DOWN. This is a big one. Write your goals down. Put them on your phone, on a vision board, in your planner or journal. Somewhere that you will look and see them every day. This will help you stay focused.

-Don’t set too many goals. If you set 15 goals, the likelihood of obtaining them all is slim. If you have that many for the year, break them down by quarter. Choose 2 or 3 to work on and make them a habit, then by the time April rolls around you will be ready to take on the next 2 or 3 goals.

Below you will see that I have 5 goals for the year.  One of my goals, working out, is already a habit so I just need to keep up with it. Another goal, reading 30+ books, is a yearlong goal so it is already broken up to cover the whole year.

Heading into 2023 I only have a few goals. My goals for 2023 are:

/1/ Work out 3x a week-

I have already started making the gym a habit. I have missed it and I’m enjoying being back. I’d like to go more when possible but 3x a week is what works for our family right now. I would also like to start running again and participate in a couple of 5k runs.

  • Another part of this goal is to start encouraging Moose to have daily exercise, such as yoga, walks or simply running around the back yard.

/2/ Post 2 blogs a month-

Now having 2 kiddos I must be realistic about how much time I can put into my blog. I want to make sure that I’m still creating good quality, informational and fun blog posts for you. By setting my goal to 2 posts a month this will allow me more time to focus on each blog and put out the best content for you!

/3/ Read 30+ Books-

If I could read 30 books last year then I know I can do it again this year! I hope to read more but we will see what the year holds! Do you have any book recommendations for me? I would like to restart Atomic Habits as I did not finish that one last year!

Read books on my kindle and from the library instead of buying new. I have about 10 books I need to read on my TBR shelf. My goal is to hold out until May before I buy any new books.

I’d also like to start a Book Journal. A Journal will help me keep my thoughts organized when it comes to blogging and sharing about the books I read!

/4/ Use my planner-

I plan to use my Ivory Paper Co planner more this year! (check it out here) I want to start meal planning and use it to stay organized with my blog. This will be a great way to keep our family organized! I also plan on using my planner to help me stay organized with my books.

/5/ Start and maintain a garden-

I’ve been wanting to have a garden for a few years. I always start one and then forget to maintain it and end up not getting anything from it. I’d really like to share this with Moose this year. I think it is a great way for him to see where food comes from. And I think he will enjoy eating the food he grows! Reading Outdoor Kids in an Inside World has inspired me! We had some flowers over the summer, and Moose took pride in helping water them every day, so I think he will love a little fruit and vegetables garden.

Steps I am going to take to obtain setting this goal are:

Purchase planting containers
Research what grows well in Texas during the spring
Take Moose to a garden center to pick out some items to grow and buy soil
– we will have a variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers

If this works out well I also hope to start a compost area.

These are my goals for 2023. Do you have any similar goals? What are some of your goals this year?
