How to prepare for baby #2

How to prepare for baby #2 you ask? Can you even prepare? Well you can try, keep reading to see how I am preparing!

Having two children is going to be more challenging for sure. When I was pregnant with Moose I just had to worry about me. So I could nap or nest or do whatever I needed, easily. This time around I have had to make sure I consider how preparing for baby #2 might affect Moose. And doing things hasnโ€™t been as easy while chasing him around. ๐Ÿคฃ

While still trying to make lots of memories with Moose before baby comes, I’ve also made it a priority to plan and prepare as much as I can for when baby comes. I am hoping it will be a smooth and easy transition for our family of 3 becoming a family of 4!

How I have prepared!

Trimester 1 and 2

If you follow me on Instagram and have read my Surprise Iโ€™m Pregnant Blog post, then you know the first 20 weeks were rough for me! And we Moved to a whole new state and city during this time! During this time I started looking through what we kept from when Moose was a baby and making my registries. After getting rid of some things and making a list of what we would need it was easy to get my registry together!

You can check out how to make a baby registry on Amazon HERE!

And you can see what I included in my registries Here & Here!

I sent our my registries to friends and family towards the end of my 2nd trimester.

Around this time I also started to buy things I might need such as nipple cream, tucks pads, the lovely depends diapers, and hand sanitizer. This time around I have a breast feeding cart downstairs to make things easier with having two children. This is where I placed all these items along with items for baby, Moose and also my breast pump and supplies.

Trimester 3

This is when most of my preparing happened! And Iโ€™m pretty proud at the amount I have accomplished.

Hubby put the bassinet together because I wanted to make sure we still had all the pieces.

I packed mine and babies hospital bags, as well as a bag for Moose, (check out our bag must haves HERE)

I looked through all of Mooseโ€™s old clothes again, organized them by size, then washed the newborn and 0-3 month clothes and swaddles

We installed our car seat bases for our infant seat, which you can find HERE. (discount code Shanay10) And we moved Mooseโ€™s car seat also. All of this seemed so much easier this time around! I also took the covers off of our infant seat to wash, since we are using the same one Moose had.

During this pregnancy I have experienced quite a bit of pelvic pain so my Midwife referred me to a Pelvic Floor Therapist. I wish I would have been referred sooner but was happy to finally be seen and get some exercises to provide relief! I highly suggest this if you have any lower abdomen or pelvic pain! My Physical Therapist was also able to provide exercises to help with my lower back pain, give suggested poses to help with birth and more!

35 plus weeks pregnant- how I continue to prepare

As I entered into 35 weeks of pregnancy, I started to get my nesting energy. I prepared 3 freezer meals for our family, as well as breakfast burritos and 2 types of lactation protein balls! I made extra of one recipes so we could try it that weekend and it was delicious. These meals will come in useful when we are tired and donโ€™t want to prepare, but want to have a yummy home cooked meal.

You can find each freezer recipe I prepared below:

Beef Stew

Chicken and Vegetables

Sausage and Vegetables

Breakfast Burritos

Protein balls

Protein balls with dates

Some of the last things that I did were to make padsicles ( Pads with witch hazel and aloe for postpartum), start drinking raspberry tea and try to relax. Drinking raspberry tea is supposed to help bring on labor and I like drinking tea at night anyway so this was a nice treat! After nesting for a few weeks I hit a wall of exhaustion and took that as my que to slow down and relax! Which is what I have been trying to doโ€ฆ So these are just a few ways that I prepared for my second baby and maybe some helpful ideas on what you can do to prepare also!

Let me know, how did/do you prepared for your baby!?

Epic!
