Fall TBR List Recap
I started this fall season with a Fall TBR or To Be Read list. My list included 3 Audible books and 3 physical copies, for a total of 6 books I wanted to read! I have now finished them all and also read another book in the mix that I will also include in this post. You can find my TBR post by clicking here. Keep reading if you want to hear my reviews and a short synopsis of each book! You can find each of these books by clicking on the bold titles below!

“Dial A for Aunties” & “Love & Olives”
The first books I read were “Dial A For Aunties” and “Love & Olives”. You can click here to see my review on “Dial A for Aunties” by Jesse Q Sutanto, this was a great read and I HIGHLY recommend it! It was a funny mystery with a love story intertwined! It was such an easy listen and I enjoyed the narrator’s voice throughout the reading! I look forward to reading the sequel “Four Aunties and a Wedding” coming out in March, preorder it here.
While listening to “Dial A for Aunties” I was also reading “Love and Olives” this is a Young Adult book. “Love and Olives” by Jenna Evan Welch, was a long book but I enjoyed it. This story follows Olive as she goes to visit her dad who she hasn’t seen since she was 8.
Her parents joined forces, pushing her to go to Greece, she showed resistance in going not wanting to miss the summer with her boyfriend and miss a trip with friends. Olive travels to Greece where her dad is from. (Honestly the most beautiful place I have ever visited) She is enlisted to help her dad and a teenage boy in finding Atlantis. She isn’t happy about this but as you can imagine things start to unfold and change over her days there. She often flashes back to times before her dad left her and her mom, something she doesn’t understand and struggles with through most of the book.
Olive soon discovers that she is just as excited about this project as they are and realizes why are her dad wanted her there. This was an easy, light, and fun read!
“The Identicals” & “Seven Days in June”
Next, I started reading “The Identicals” by Elin Hilderbrand. I love Elin Hilderbrand’s books and this one was mostly great! It followed the story of adult twins whose father has just passed away. They have been estranged for years and this forces them to reunite. As they essentially switch places to take care of a business, one sister’s teenage daughter, and their dad’s home refurbishments, they start to learn more about each other. There is love and lots of drama in this story.
You won’t want to put it down, but if you are like me, when you finally do, you might be a bit disappointed. The ending of this story was not one that I was happy about. I like good clean finales and this story left me hanging with the hope of their being a sequel, which I don’t believe is in the cards. I love Elin Hilderbrand’s books so I was a bit disappointed about this. My mum also read this book and she said that she felt the same way as I did. But don’t let that discourage you. The storyline up until the ending was amazing!
Next on my Fall TBR
I began listening to “Seven days in June” by Tia Williams, and as I said in my Fall TBR post, I had to stop and immediately text my book club besties! I knew this had to be our next book and I wasn’t wrong. This book is definitely in my top 3 so far for books I have read this year!
It was a romance but it wasn’t your average love story. “Seven Days in June” follows the story of two young, black authors, Eva and Shane. They met and became deeply intertwined as high schoolers, connecting on being “outcasts”. But just as quickly as they met they are torn apart.
Fast forward to their 30s, Eva has a preteen daughter who aspires to be a therapist. And Eva and Shane meet again at a book event, getting off to a rocky reuniting they seem to pick up just where they left off. As I said, this isn’t your average romance as it touches on mental health, addiction, and unseen disabilities. It is also VERY “spicy” in the sexual department, so if you plan to listen to this one, I would NOT suggest listening on a family road trip hahaha!
I loved this book and hope you do too! I plan to read some more of Tia Williams’s books next year!
Added to my Fall TBR “Rosemary Beach Kisses”
As soon as I finished reading “The Identicals” and listening to “Seven Days in June” I got a notification that a series I had read earlier this year had a new book. I was super excited about this because I didn’t think the author was going to continue with this series “Love Along HWY 30A”. So I decided to detour from my TBR and get into this book.
The detour lead to “Rosemary Beach Kisses” by Melissa Chambers. I enjoy this series because they take place in an area that my family enjoys visiting. We love to ride bikes along 30A, specifically Rosemary Beach and so I can picture the scenes with ease! The books in this series aren’t super long which is another thing I enjoy. They are really easy to read and I would easily read 50 pages in one sitting.
This book follows the love story of Ryder and Meade. Ryder is a Marine Biologist and a single father to Annabella. Meade is a single, attractive woman with brains that no one expects. She is known for having bad relationships and one-night stands and loves to take jobs that don’t tie her down. So you can imagine her surprise when she connects with Ryder and tries to fight her feelings! This easy romance read did not disappoint. And if you are a busy person looking for something easy to divulge in, this is the book for you! Yes, it is part of a series but it is not necessary to read the prior books! You won’t be lost while reading!
Final two on the TRB, “Take a Hint, Dani Brown”
Finally, that brings me to “Take a Hint, Dani Brown” from my Fall TBR list. I picked this book up because I loved the cover. When I turned it over, I loved it even more as this is written by a black, British author Talia Hibbert. And what a coincidence I am both of those things! As I read the short description of the book I decided this was one I needed to read!
When I first started reading it, I wasn’t hooked. But after chapter two, I knew I would enjoy this one. It felt like it took me forever to read but I didn’t hurry it along because I didn’t want it to end! I loved the British terms and humor! It took me right back to my family and I was laughing out loud as I read it! I also like how the main characters are from different racial backgrounds and portray a thicker body image! I did find myself wanting the characters to hurry up and admit to their feelings for each other! Once they did, I wasn’t disappointed! I enjoyed this read very much, however, if you’re not familiar with British lingo, some of the humor may go over your head🤣.
“The Last Summer”
Last but not least I listened to “The Last Summer” by Brandy Bruce. This came as a recommendation, my friend Mars is her cousin! I was a bit hesitant to read this one because Mars had informed me that it would be religious. I wasn’t sure if I would understand some of the book because I don’t practice a specific religion.
However, once I started listening to this book I was hooked! I enjoyed the storyline of the friend group and the author has a great way of explaining the bible verses she does use so that anyone can follow along! I felt like I was part of the friend group in the novel and was routing for Sara and Luke. It did leave me with some questions, good questions, and hoping for a continuation of this love story!
I will definitely be picking up more Brandy Bruce books in the future! I follow her on Instagram and you can tell that she uses some snippets from her own life in the stories which I think is pretty awesome and feel like it gives you even more of a connection with the author and her stories.
I’m so proud of myself for finishing all of my FALL TBR books plus some! Now if I could only stop adding to my TBR pile so I could actually finish all my books… if you are a true reader you probably know, that will probably never happen! 😂 Do you create TBR lists for yourself?
