Cooking with Toddlers

This week was a quick one! Sometimes I can’t believe how fast the days and weeks go! We ended the weekend with a movie style Charcuterie Board and started the new one with many things on the menu! Cooking with toddlers can be so much fun!

Now that Moose is in Swim lessons we are even busier than normal!  So this week Moose and I didn’t have the opportunity to cook a recipe together. However, he did help me make a few things from adding items to smoothies to helping pour chicken broth into our soup. So, today I am going to share some of the recipes we used and where I got them from!

Tortellini Soup

The temperatures here in Florida seem to just be ever-changing. One day it is in the 50s and the next it’s in the 70s! It is very hard to plan meals to match the weather! I decided I wanted to make soup on Monday so we picked up some of the ingredients we needed to make tortellini soup. Click here to find the recipe. Walking home from the grocery store it was 70 degrees! But I stuck to my plan and this soup was delicious so I’m glad I did!

Cookies

On Tuesday Moose kept asking for cookies so I decided to try out my favorite recipe again! This time I followed it exactly only changing the flour to GF flour. They still came out a bit grainy but I am thinking that is just the flour. Moose helped pour the ingredients into the mixer then went to play! He loved the cookies and devoured them while he was staying with my parents. I guess they must have not been too bad. You can click here for the recipe!

Chicken Noodle Soup

I started to feel a cold coming on Wednesday, so I decided to keep up with the warm and cozy foods. We  made a very basic chicken noodle soup! I did not use a recipe for this one so here is how I made it.

What you need:

Chicken stock
Chicken
**Whatever you like to season your chicken with**
Noodles of your choice
Frozen mixed veggies

Season your chicken. Heat some oil in a pot and add the chicken. Once the chicken is partly cooked pour in your chicken stock, we did about 3 cups. Moose loved that I let him pour the chicken stock in, Cooking with Toddlers is loads of fun! Let the chicken finish cooking in the boiling chicken stock. Then add in your noodles. We used gluten-free angel hair noodles. When the noodles are almost done add in your desired amount of frozen veggies. This whole meal took about 15 minutes to make and was a huge hit with all the family!

Smoothie

The last thing that I will add to this blog is the immune booster smoothie. We make a lot of smoothies, probably 3+ times a week! This one I found earlier this year and it made me feel a lot better when I was sick. I decided we would have it again since I’d been feeling a bit sick. Click here to find this smoothie recipe! Moose helped me add the ingredients. I didn’t think he would want to drink any of it but he actually enjoyed this smoothie and asked for more! Click here for the blender we use.

These are some of the yummy meals and desserts that we enjoyed this week! What are your favorite go to meals? You can check out a few of our past Cooking With Toddlers (Moose) episodes here and here!
