Holiday Baking And Books!

This week’s post is going to be all about baking and books! Moose and I spent a bit of time in the kitchen this week and I have been planning out time to read a lot more since Melvin is home! I just finished listening to The Holiday Sway and I’m currently reading Always in December.

Baking

Moose and I spent some time in the kitchen and baking together the past couple of weeks! We made some delicious Funfetti cookies! This is my go-to recipe when wanting a delicious cookie! You can find the recipe by clicking here! It is an easy recipe and one that Moose can help with. I wanted to make the cookies festive so I chilled the dough in the fridge and then “rolled” it out. Moose helped me make star and snowmen cookies using the cookie cutters. He enjoyed pushing the cookie cutters down into the dough.

Holiday Cookies

Because the cookies were smaller than normal, figuring out the time was trial and error. They ended up needing to be in the oven for 13 minutes at 350 degrees. I let them cool for about an hour and then iced them and added sprinkles. Moose LOVED that we decorated the cookies and ate more than I would like to admit. But now that they don’t irritate his stomach I’m just happy to see him eat them!

As I was decorating the cookies by his kitchen helper, he hopped up on it, grabbed a cookie, and ran! It was pretty hilarious and hard to hide my laugh from him! He did the same thing with his dad, who had his cookies sitting on the sofa. Moose really does keep us smiling and laughing!

Christmas Chex Mix

We also made some Christmas “Crack” Chex Mix that I have been seeing all over Instagram.

We made it using:

1 cup multigrain Cheerios

1.5 cups honey Chex

2 cups pretzels

2 boxes of m&m’s

Melted white chocolate chips to pour over the top.

This stuff is addicting! I made this to have on Christmas day but it may or may not be already gone… Luckily we have plenty of ingredients to make more!

Not exactly baking but we also spent time making a gingerbread house with Moose this week! Keeping the tradition going! Have you done any fun recipes in the kitchen lately?

Books

I have some fun holiday books to share for this time of year. I read and enjoyed all of these at some point in the past 2 years!

*Still Reading* Always in December by Emily Stone- This one is based in England! I am enjoying this love story so far!

The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox- This was a classic twin switching lives story. I loved the ending!

We Met in December by Rosie Curtis- Grabbed this one because it was based in England. It had a great friends-to-lovers storyline and I found myself wanting them to hurry up and tell each other their true feelings, in a good way!

Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory- This one I had to get because my favorite author wrote it and it took place in England!

The Winter Street Series by Elin Hilderbrand- My mum read these and knew I would love them, she gave them to me once she finished, and she wasn’t wrong! I loved them and cried when I finished the series!

Christmas Specific

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren- I love these authors. And it was a fun spin on repeating time over and over again!

Christmas With You Jess Mastorakos- I chose to read this one because it is by a fellow military wife, this book did not disappoint and I am glad I bought the whole series! This is an enemy-to-lovers type story!
I hope you enjoyed this baking and books episode of cooking with Moose!

What is your favorite winter read? Tell me below!

Epic!
