I Almost Forgot About You by Terry McMillian

This book had been on my audiobook TBR for a while. I decided to start it while I was driving to Waco for my birthday. I loved the storyline as it was different from most books I read. It was a romance, sure, but it followed the successful Dr. Georgia in her mid 50s. She is on a mission to reach out to all of her old loves to check on them and see how they are doing. In doing so she learns a lot about herself and her old love interests. This book also explores her relationships with her mother, daughters and best friends. I really enjoyed this story and listening to it had me laughing out loud often!

Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune

Meet Me at the Lake was a book club read for the month of May. This was the first book I read by this author but I know a lot of people LOVED her first book, Every Summer After. This book was good but fell a bit short for me. I didn’t connect to the past of the main characters and how they essentially fell in love after spending one day together, a day where they didn’t even kiss. They were supposed to meet again in a year but Will never shows up. Fast forward to the present and they are back in each other’s lives and have to work together to help save Ferns family business. Fern eventually finds out why Will never showed up and it touches on Will and his anxiety and family life. It was cute enough that I wanted to finish it. But not something I would read again.

I guess May was the month of new authors because most of the books I read why by new to me authors.

Everyone Is Beautiful by Katherine Center

I picked this one up while away for my birthday. When I read the description on the book I knew I had to get this one! Lanie is a stay at home mom who’s life is spiraling out of control. While I wouldn’t say my life is “spiraling out of control” I felt like I connected with her. She is always putting the rest of her family first and had gained weight and lost sense of herself. This was very relatable as I had recently had a realization that I needed to start prioritizing myself and also had started working out recently. I flew through this book and loved how Lanie was able to discover her self worth and rekindle her relationship with her husband. I highly recommend this book to any stay at home mom who is wanting some encouragement.

Happy Place by Emily Henry

I’d seen mixed reviews on this book but wanted to check it out for myself. I LOVED this book! This was another one with 2 timelines and I really enjoyed it. Harriet and Wyn are a part of a friend group who spends a week together every summer at a lake house. They have been in a relationship but Wyn recently ended their engagement, however their friends do not know. So they spend the week pretending to still be together, while Harriet is still confused about why they even broke up. I feel like I can’t explain this book and give it enough justice, its one you will have to read or listen to for yourself!

Nora Goes off Script by Annabel Monaghan

This book had been sitting on my TBR shelf for a few months. I finally decided to pick it up because a bookstagram friend of mine recently read it. This book is easily in my top 5 for the year! I cant remember the last time a book made me cry, but this one did it! I cried happy tears as I was finishing it! This one follows Nora, a script writer for a channel I only assume is similar to Hallmark. But when her husband leaves her and she writes a script about it, her publicist decides to send it to some movie producers… Fast forward, and the movie is being made and part of it is being filmed at Noras house. The main male character Leo ends up crashing at her house for a few days as he wants a break from the big city. One thing leads to another and I am sure you can guess what happens. I loved the relationship that Nora and Leo developed as well as the one Leo develops with Nora’s children. This was such a fun and easy read that I think would be PERFECT for the summer!

June TBR

I came into the month of June already reading 2 books. I am currently listening to Things you Save in a Fire by Katherine Center and Reading Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Both are really good and Im sure will be rated high!

Once I finish these I have a lofty TBR. One that I doubt I will get through because June is going to be a busy month for us! We have family visiting and will also be traveling out of town. However, I wanted to pick a few so I had some choices.

Starting out I have Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand and Fake it till you Bake it by Jamie Wesley. I have actually already read about half way through both of these and then set them down because I wasn’t in the mood for them. Hopefully this month I will be and can finally finish them! Another book I am looking forward to is People we Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry, I think this will be perfect to read while we are on vacation!

I am especially looking forward to reading The Perfect Find by Tia Williams! Seven Days in June is one of my favorites and also The Perfect Find is being turned into a movie that comes out at the end of the month! Lastly, I have an ARC on my list, Thank You for Sharing by Rachel Runya Katz. I am really excited to finish these books and will probably end up reading some others since I haven’t decided on any audio books yet!

What are you reading this month? Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments and lets buddy read some!

Epic!
