RECAPS

“Love on Lease”
This book was warm and witty and had me laughing almost all the way through. The main characters, roommates turned lovers had good banter that had me hooked. Love on Lease was a page-turner that I couldn’t put down! Sadie who is confident, witty, and independent keeps Jack, who is shy and closed off, on his toes! (Small Spoiler) The two meet by accident when Sadie who thinks she set up a date on an app while drunk, really applied to be a roommate on a roommate app! What a hilarious misunderstanding that turned out to be awesome! Jack ends up being the perfect book boyfriend and I enjoyed watching him integrate into Sadies life! Another concept I enjoyed was the use of the friends texting throughout the book, I felt like it broke it up and made it even more relatable!

May TBR & Recaps Cont.

“The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo”
I don’t even know where to start with this book, but I loved it! Taylor Jenkins Reid has a way with writing! This was my second book by her and neither has disappointed me. For some reason, both have taken me a while to get through but that doesn’t take away from how great her books and writing are!
The Seven Husbands of Evenly Hugo kept me wondering what the big secret was all while taking you through the life of a sexy, strong, and determined woman! Evelyn seemed so forward with everything she was divulging that I couldn’t imagine what her big secret to Monique was going to be. Her life was full of interesting and empowering events.

My Final Book for May…

“The Stand-In”
This one was super easy to listen to and an enjoyable read. Gracie is at a job that she hates and is harassed by her boss she ends up getting let go. Around the same time, an opportunity for her to “impersonate” a famous actress comes up. The two look remarkably alike making it easy for Gracie to fill in for easy appearances, allowing the actress Wei Fangli the break she needs.
This quickly turns to Wei Fangli also getting help for her anxiety and depression which is touched on quite a bit in “The Stand-In”. Gracie also overcomes and learns a lot about herself in the process, and also falls for Wei Fangli’s escort Sam Yao. I was constantly trying to figure out if there was a reason that Gracie and Wei Fangli looked so alike or if it was purely coincidence, and you will have to read yourself to find out. 😂
This book discusses the importance of mental health, believing in yourself, and standing up for what you need, all while intertwining romance and friendship. It had a great narrator and I don’t believe there was anything I didn’t like about this book!
