How to Celebrate turning 30!

Turning 30 should be fun, here is how I celebrated!

Turning 30 is scary for a lot of people, especially for us ladies. This is when you start getting asked more and more about having kids or when you are going to have more. This is when it is “crucial” to start a skin care routine if you don’t have one. And so much more! I felt like “oh my, I’m not going to be in my 20’s, I’m getting old”, but in reality, everything is still the same!
My 30th birthday fell on a weekend and my husband took it off so we could do some fun activities. We spent Friday going for a bike ride along Navarre Beach. This was our first time doing this ride and it was beautiful and mostly flat. I definitely recommend this ride if you are looking for something fun and easy.

After riding we stopped for lunch because by this point, we were starving! We ate and Windjammers on the pier and it was fantastic! Melvin ate the Cast Net Combo (fried fish, 6 jumbo fried shrimp, and fired oysters). I had the grilled shrimp and fries. We were bummed that they were out of the pineapple upside down cake, but we were full anyways.

My 30th birthday

On Saturday, Melvin woke up with Moose and made me breakfast in bed! We had scramble eggs with cheese and sausage, sausage patties, bacon, grapes, blueberries, and coffee. It was scrummy as always.

Later in the day we went to Starbucks to get my free drink and took some pictures. Last year I took pictures with number 29 balloons on my birthday, so we did that again with the number 30, in the same location. We took the pictures in downtown Fort Walton Beach and it was a beautiful evening. After taking pictures we went to Think Poke for dinner, we love their bowls and they have the best bubble tea in town!

Sunday was a rainy day so we didn’t do much. That evening we met with my family at George Bistro and Bar in Pensacola for dinner. I love that we are close enough to my family and can spend occasions together! Dinner was nice and the company was even better! It was a wonderful weekend and my whole family made me feel really special.

Celebrating my 3oth birthday with friends

The following week I celebrated with dinner with some friends Downtown at Taste. We spent the evening trying wines, laughing, and sharing tapas. We enjoyed the $10 wine tasting and some of the tapas we tried were, the Caprese salad, Chefs humus, Chicken and Crepes, Stuffed mushrooms, and meatballs.

Photoshoot

Finally, to finish celebrating I had a photoshoot with my favorite photographer, Heather, to celebrate turning 30. Heather takes amazing photos and she has been taking all of our family pictures for the past year! I love how she works with Moose and she can joke with Melvin to make him “smile”—that is a hard task! If you live in the Florida panhandle, I recommend Heather! She is a military spouse also, and I love that I can support her in her passion! For my 30th birthday pictures we decided on a beach location on Okaloosa Island! I wanted it to be fun, so we made it exactly that!

Check out the pictures from our fun session below and be sure to check out Heathers work for your future sessions at ararebirdphotography.com or at A Rare Bird Photography on Facebook.

All of these beautiful beach pictures were taken by Heather at Beasley Park.

Celebrating my birthday was loads of fun! And being 30 isn’t nearly as scary as everyone thinks! I actually feel more empowered, ready to take on things, such as this blog and other challenges! I look forward to what this year and the rest of my 30s will bring on!
