I opened my tablet today and noticed my blog tab was open… I opened it almost a year ago and just left it their neglected. Well its a new year and so why not try to start it up again.
In this short post I will revisit and recap the year that has just ended. It was a years of downs and mostly ups. Lots of exciting and fun experiences and I’m proud to say that I actually met most of my goals I set last January.
So to recap, my goals last year were:
- Healthy lifestyle (wow that was vague)
- Travel! Visit different towns in Alaska, Seattle, Las Vegas and more!
- Stress less!
Although, my healthy lifestyle goal was pretty vague, I feel like I had some ups and downs with this one but over all did really well. I would say I went to the gym about 3 times a week and ate healthy about 80 percent of the time. Not to shabby if you ask me!
Travel! Well I did stick to this goal. We went to Seattle to celebrate my birthday, at the end of April/ beginning of May. Seattle holds lots of fun touristy spots and we visited many of them, one being the first Starbucks, of course! Then I went to Aruba with my best friend in June, followed by visiting friends and family in Florida and Georgia. Aruba was a beautiful, relaxing, desert island where we took on lots of adventure. In July our families came to visit and we went to Seward, a little port town in Alaska. Here we went on a boat tour and saw many different Alaskan animals, such as, whales, seals, sea otters and puffins. We also ventured to some local areas such as Hatcher pass and flat top for some hikes and great photos. In September we went to Denali State Park (for the second time) where Melvin and I got engaged! Denali is a HUGE, breath taking park where you get to see bears, caribou, arctic squirrels and much more in their natural habitat. So I would say we hit quite a few places on the list!
Read more, I did not read as much as I wanted to. However, the few books that I did read were great ones! My favorites were “Why Men love Bitches” by Sherry Argov, “The Proposal” by Jasmine Guillory (and no it is not like the movie), and “I Will always Write Back” by Caitlin Alifirenka and Martin Ganda. All of these books offered me different experiences. I also invested in Audible towards the end of the year and purchased about 6 books to listen to. I am currently listening to “Becoming” by Michelle Obama and “The Magnolia Story” by Chip and Joanna Gaines. Michelle Obama is such an inspiration! and listening to her tell her story has had me in fits of hysterics as well as tears! If you purchase this one on Audible, I highly suggest the version narrated by her!
Lastly, Stress less, well the beginning of the year was rough and I stressed about A LOT! but once summer rolled around and I had time to sit back and evaluate life and what was important my mental health took a positive turn. I spent more time focusing on me and what was important to make me happy and stopped trying to make others happy. This greatly improved and helped my stress levels. Making finishing this year a breeze!
So, I would say over all 2018 was a pretty great year! I traveled and visited many new places, got engaged then married, and added 2 beautiful kittens to our family! It was a year to remember and I can’t wait for all the adventures to come this year. So stay tuned for my 2019 goals!
