All about me…2017
If you have read my “About me” section you already have a general background on me. But here is a little more about me. My name is Shanay and I am in my mid 20’s. Born and raised- I grew up and spent the first 18 years of my life in Europe. I loved growing up as a military child and traveling all over Europe. I was lucky enough to live in four European countries, England, Iceland, Spain, and Italy, and travel to many others. After graduating high school ( in an Italian theater!!!) I moved to South Georgia. I attended college and got my degree in Early Childhood Education. Upon Graduation (and living in south GA for 4 years) I quickly moved to Atlanta, Georgia. As I didn’t enjoy my experiences living in the “Deep South”.
Moving to Atlanta was a struggle at first. Being away from my parents for the first time was hard but I enjoyed the fact I was traveling and moving to a new city. I quickly grew to love Atlanta and eventually got a job teaching First grade! I’ve been teaching First grade for 3 years now and really enjoy it. I have a great team of supportive teachers/ mentors and the kids always keep you on your toes.
However, I never seem to be able to stay in one place for longer than 3 to 4 years. This past October I started to feel the need for a new adventure. For me that was not as simple as a vacation. I didn’t know where I wanted to move but wanted to make sure I would end up somewhere I would enjoy.
So I decided I would start saving and finish out the school year teaching. I wanted to travel. At this point I wasn’t sure if I wanted to explore and revisit my European roots or explore what was unknown to me in the US. I have since decided to do a bit of both… indefinitely. It is going to be hard to say bye to the apartment I have called home for 3 years and the great friends I have made here, but I know it is the right thing for me to do. The friendships I have formed here are lifelong and I know I will see my friends again. My upbringing prepared me for things like this.
As of right now my list of destinations is still coming together and I don’t have a final settling point for when I finish traveling. So stay tuned to find out where I travel and the experiences I have… after all that is what this blog is mostly be about.
Ciao, Adios, Cheerio, Bye for now.
