And Shakespeare was born, A day in Stratford Upon Avon

Stratford Upon Avon

Thursday the whole family took a trip to Stratford Upon Avon. We walked through the town and along the river front, it was a beautiful day. We walked along the river and took a small ferry back across to the other side and into the town.

The “ferry driver” let my niece crank the old chain ferry across the river and she was so excited! We spent the whole day walking through the town and going to the shops before settling for some lunch.

Lunch in Stratford Upon Avon

For lunch, we stopped at a cute café. We had been there before and had to find it again. Remembering how good it was, we had our minds set on finding this café, The Boston Tea Party. I wanted a traditional cream tea, this is tea and scones with jam and cream. So, I ate a fruit scone and loaded it with strawberry jam and cream, if was delicious!

I had a fruit tea because I am not a fan of British tea… Needless to say, I love the food! My dad devoured a fruit bread and my brother enjoyed a sandwich. My mum and niece shared a cream tea and a real English breakfast, consisting of, toast, bacon, eggs, fried tomato, beans and mushrooms. Everything we ate was amazing, we were glad we were able to find it.

Once we finished lunch we did some more shopping. I got a few souvenirs for some friends and family, along with a few things for myself. Stratford Upon Avon is the birth place of Shakespeare so we also went and took pictures at the house he was born in. There are often reenactments of his plays done there and you can do a tour of the house where he was born. I have not seen or done either as I am not really into Shakespeare however, I have caught glimpses of the reenactments and they are very entertaining.

Italy

NOW it is time for Italy!!! My favorite of all the places I lived in is Italy. This is where I spent my high school years and graduated. This is also where I met my best friend, Melanie. I will be meeting her in Venice and from there we will travel south, visiting Florence, Rome, and Sorrento. We both played sports in high school and traveled all over Italy, however, that is all I did, play sports. Because of this l did not actually see much outside of the courts and fields when we traveled for sports. I haven’t seen Melanie in over a year because we live in different countries.
I am especially excited for this trip because not only do I get to explore this beautiful country but I get to do it with my best friend! Stay tuned and be on the lookout for Italy posts to come soon!
